Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone else has a problem with oversensativity to tones of voice? I am afraid I'm one who does, and it's extremely annoying for not only me, but those closest to me. Does anyone have any advice regarding how to deal with it?

several suggestions do spring to mind but none of them are especially useful or sensitive so i'll shut up now and see if you get any decent advice!

I too am overly sensitive to tone of voice. *smile* And this is something I've spent eight years working on with my husband. We've actually reached a sort of compromise, and that is to simply ask. Something like, "to me your sounding upset/angry/hurt...Whatever, are you?" Other varients can of course work to. He has a problem with my facial expressions too, sometimes when I'm deep in thought or something I can look angry, it's not my fault, *smile* I do my best to express my face well, but having only seen expressions when I was very little...Anyways, the point is, if your close enough then work out a forth right asking system, and if not try to rationalize the tone? I mean, ok, you know say a parent doesn't deal well with a hard day at work, so, when they sound upset with you it can be because of the day they've had. Brought this one up because it's happened to me. *smile* Go on what you know about the person and make a rational guess for the tone.
